Campbellsport’s Hall and McCarty are Softball All-Stars

Posted

CAMPBELLSPORT – On June 16, Campbellsport Softball Players Peyton Hall and Olivia McCarty played in the WFSCA All-Star Game at the Woodside Sports Complex in Wisconsin Dells after a banquet on June 15.
Hall started playing t-ball when she was four years old, and transitioned to softball when I was seven.
Peyton was a two-time second-team all-conference player during her junior and senior years, with being honorable mention all-conference and team defensive MVP her sophomore year at Campbellsport as a four-year varsity starter
“My favorite moment in my softball career was upsetting the third-ranked team, WLA, in the state to win the regional championship my freshman year,” said Peyton Hall. “Before that game, we had lost to them twice during conference play. It was a long and hard game, but we had so much fun, and it became one of my very best memories.”

“Softball is important to me because it allows me to enjoy the moment for a bit. While I am playing softball, I can relax and focus on just playing the sport and having fun instead of everything else I feel like I need to get done,” said Hall. “Softball has also given me some amazing relationships that I would not trade for anything.”
“The biggest influences on me in my career were my family and my coaches,” said Hall. “The coach who influenced me the most was my very first pitching coach, Tom Gruenwald.”
“Tom started coaching me when I was seven years old and continued as my pitching coach until I was around twelve years old, and he helped me learn the importance of patience and perseverance,” said Hall. “Coach Gruenwald also got me into coaching by letting me volunteer with him during the pitching lessons he was providing to the youth in our community.”
Hall hopes to coach a softball team and provide pitching lessons to the next generation of softball players.
“I have been an assistant coach for our local youth rec organization for the past 3 years and have really enjoyed that experience,” said Hall.
“Peyton has always been a reliable pitcher for us,” said Campbellsport Head Coach Dan Heisdorf. “The kid has ice in her veins, as she has never let anything bother her when she is in the circle.”

Olivia McCarty started playing softball when I was seven years old and lettered all four years of high school at Campbellsport.
McCarty was the team MVP her junior year and a two-time second-team all-conference during her junior and senior years as a three-year varsity starter.
“I have many moments in softball that I’d consider favorites, but a few of them include bus stops to Culver’s on the way home from away games, singing Pitch Perfect riff-offs and Pearl Jam loudly with my teammates, pitching the last inning of the 2026 Lomira game, and striking the final batter out and hitting each of my home runs,” said Olivia McCarty.
“Softball is important to me because it truly shaped me into the individual that I am today, as I was able to grow as a leader and become confident in myself throughout the process,” said McCarty. “Softball has brought me endless memories and friendships, as well as instilled in me that hard work and determination will get me where I am meant to be, for nothing will ever be handed to me.”
“I learned how to persevere through many things and became a stronger individual,” said McCarty. “I will forever be grateful that I had the opportunity to play such an amazing sport with some of the best people I’ve met.”
Olivia’s biggest influences during her softball career were Steve and Alyssa Muench, who put time and effort into giving her pitching lessons and helping make her into the pitcher she is today.
“I will forever be grateful for the bond I made with both of them and for making pitching lessons something I looked forward to each week,” said McCarty. “Each lesson entailed jokes, hard work, and endless conversations. They both believed in me and helped me become confident in my pitching and as a player overall.”
“Secondly, my dad has shown up to almost every lesson since I started pitching, and I’m forever grateful that we bonded over pitching since I was little. No matter what, he was there,” said McCarty. “Additionally, my 14U/16U coaches, Kevin Schultz and Dave Engebregsten, for believing in me and kick-starting my success both mentally and physically in softball.”
“My high school coaches, Dan Heisdorf and Damian Feucht, were also a great influence on me and believed in me even when it was hard for me to believe in myself,” said McCarty. “I am forever grateful for the coaches and teammates that softball gave me.”
McCarty’s plans for softball are to stay local and coach, and possibly start teaching pitching lessons.
‘Olivia has worked really hard to get to where she is today, especially with her pitching,” said Heisdorf. “I feel very comfortable starting her in big games or having her close out tight games.”
