Campbellsport’s Ksioszk Wins Cutler Classic

Posted

On January 10, Campbellsport girls’ wrestling finished in eighth place with 54 points at the Cutler Classic in New London.
Savannah Ksioszk won the 132-pound title to improve to 27-4 on the season, and Irelyn Woolhether finished in third place in the 114-pound class.
“Savannah got a takedown with about a minute left in the third period to take the lead and hung on for an exciting 8-7 win,” said Head Coach Dan Heisdorf.
The Cougar boys finished in 10th place with 67 points at the Classic, where they were led by fourth-place finishes from Logan Knoeck and Jacob Allickson.

“Logan started the day strong, collecting two wins before dropping his final two matches against ranked wrestlers,” said Head Coach Alex Costello. “Both of Jacob’s losses came against the same wrestler.”
“Trayton showed tremendous grit and determination by finishing his match despite being hurt,” said Costello. “Gavin put together a solid day with both of his wins coming against quality opponents.
“Zach finished in fifth place in a loaded 215-pound field in his bracket,” said Costello.
Vs WLA
On January 8, Campbellsport boys’ wrestling beat Winnebago Lutheran Academy, 46-22, and the girls’ team beat WLA 18-0 on youth and alumni night.
The evening began by recognizing 77 current youth wrestlers from 4K through 8th grade, along with more than 30 alumni who returned to support the program.
“The crowd was energized from the start as the spotlight shifted to the varsity duals,” said Head Coach Alex Costello.
The girls’ wrestling team got wins from Emersen Wissink, Savannah Ksioszk, and Mya Schruafhnagel, all by falls.
Ksioszk improved her individual record to 24-4 on the season.
“All three of the girls went out and dominated their opponents,” said Head Coach Dan Heisdorf.
The boys’ wrestling was led by Logan Knoeck, Trayton Renderman, and Zach Zimdahl, collecting wins for the Cougars.
“Logan bumped a weight to secure a second-period fall to put the Cougars on the board,” said Costello. “Trayton dominated his opponent to record a second-period pin to improve 4-0 in conference.”
“Captain Gavin Pickering returned to the mat for the first time since mid-December and didn’t miss a beat collecting a third-period fall,” said Costello. “Zach bumped up to the heavyweight class, where in the second period with 45 seconds remaining, Blohm attempted a throw only for Zach to roll through and put Blohm on his back, with the gym erupting as Zach nearly secured the fall before time expired. Zach stayed aggressive and added another takedown to seal an incredible victory.”
“It was a memorable night for Campbellsport wrestling, highlighted by strong performances, thrilling matches, and the celebration of the program’s youth and alumni,” said Costello.
Campbellsport wrestling will travel to Omro on January 15 at 7 p.m., and the girls’ wrestling team will go to Wausau West on January 17 at 9 a.m.
