Cougar Keglers Notch Second Win of Season

Posted

This past week, the Cougar girls’ bowling team traveled to Pioneer Bowl in Richfield to do battle of the pins with the West Bend Spartans. The lane pattern for this week was Broadway V2, it was the second week the league had bowled on the new oiling pattern.
Both teams struggled to get the ball to the pocket for a chance of throwing a strike. The Cougars squeaked out a win by one pin. In game two, the scores went up slightly, and the Cougars snuck out a second win by one pin, again. In game three, the Cougars were able to put up four strikes and two spares for a respectful game of 151 and took game three, also. Game four was another win for the Cougars, but game five saw the Spartans throw a good game to make the match 4-1. In game six, the Cougars came back to win the match, and after nine games, the Cougars left the building with a 7-2 decision.
With the challenging lane pattern, strikes were tough to get and the Cougars only had 19 of them in nine games.
Spare shooting was pivotal to winning the match, and captain Abby Jarmuz led the team with eight spares on the day. Kendall Boegel chipped in five spares to compliment Abby, and as a team, the Cougars had 27 spares on the day.
Leading the team for the day was Lillee Kiehnau, who went 12 of 16 to pace the Cougars, and Abby Jarmuz was 11 of 16.
Next week, the Cougars go back to West Bend to face their cross-town rival, the Kewaskum Indians, who have always been a worthy opponent.
Stats for the match were as follows (strikes-spares-total frames): Lillee Kiehnau 7-5-16; Kendall Boegel 0-6-16; Ava Polzin 3-3-14; Viola Schrauth 3-1-14; Abby Jarmuz 3-8-16; Genna Grahl 2-4-14.
