On May 28, Campbellsport baseball defeated West Bend East 2-1 on the road in the first round of the Division 2 WIAA Baseball tournament.
West Bend East (10-15) broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead over Campbellsport (15-12).
Campbellsport got its first hits of the game in the sixth inning with singles by Trent Schladweiler and Jace Goebel, which set the table for Levi Bentz to drive in Schladweiler to tie up the game at one.
The Cougars load the bases in the seventh inning thanks to singles by Sawyer Galligan, Wyatt Loehr, and Keegan Bowe.
Schladweiler was able to deliver the big hit with two outs, driving in the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning, giving the Cougars a 2-1 lead.
Levi Bentz got the win by pitching 6.2 innings, and Cullen Reis got the save by getting the final out to advance the Cougars to the second round.
“Levi continued to be dominant on the mound, and Trent got the key hit for our team to win a close one in the first round of the playoffs,” said Head Coach Jim Krug.
Vs Seymoour
On May 26, Campbellsport baseball lost 15-2 in five innings to Seymour at home in their regular-season finale.
Seymour (17-6) held a 6-0 lead in the second inning over Campbellsport (15-12) when Carson Heisdorf hit a RBI single to get the Cougars on the scoreboard.
Seymour added nine more runs to win the non-conference game by the score of 15-2 over the Cougars.
Campbellsport played in the second round of the Division 2 WIAA Baseball Tournament at top seed Pewaukee on June 2 after print time.
