Cougars Baseball Sweep Rival Lions

On May 22, Campbellsport baseball lost 5-4 to Kettle Moraine Lutheran in eight innings on the road in their non-conference matchup.
Campbellsport (14-11) broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning to take a 2-0 lead over KML (15-9) thanks to RBI singles with two outs by Jace Goebel and Carter Gellings.
The Chargers scored in the bottom of the fifth inning before the Cougars scored two runs in the sixth inning, featuring RBI singles from Keegan Bowe and Cullen Reis to make the score 4-1 in favor of the Cougars.
KML scored three runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at four, and the game went into extra innings.

The Chargers loaded bases in the bottom of the eighth inning with no outs, and KML hit a single to get the 5-4 walkoff win over the Cougars.
At Lomira
On May 21, Campbellsport baseball beat Lomira 5-4 on the road to win the season series between the two teams, with the Cougars’ seventh straight conference win.
Campbellsport (14-11, 8-6) scored first in the second inning with two outs when Gage Kohlmann hit a RBI double to take a 1-0 lead over Lomira (4-17, 2-12).
The Cougars added a run in the third inning, thanks to Wyatt Loehr scoring after he started the inning with a leadoff single to increase their lead to 2-0 over the Lions.
Lomira loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth inning to score three runs, highlighted by a two-run RBI single from Dawson Casper and an RBI single by Charlie Cole to take a 3-2 lead over the Cougars for the Lions.
The Lions took a 4-2 lead in the fifth inning, featuring a Nathan Leiter RBI single for Lomira.
Campbellsport notched a run with Trent Schalweiler scoring in the sixth inning after singles from Carter Gelings and Schladweiler to put the score at 4-3.
The Cougars loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the inning, with the Lions one out away from victory against their rivals.
Jace Goebel ripped a two-run RBI single down the left field line, lifting the Cougars to a 5-4 lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning.
Lomira got a single and a stolen base from Jackson Bloohm to put the game-tying run on second base before the Cougars recorded the final out in the game to secure a 5-4 comeback win.
Vs Lomira
On May 19, Campbellsport baseball defeated Lomira 10-0 in five innings at home, winning the first game between the two teams this season.
Campbellsport (14-11, 8-6) took a 1-0 lead over Lomira (4-17, 2-12) in the third inning when Wyatt Loehr scored for the Cougars.
The Cougars broke up the game in the fourth inning by scoring five runs with two outs, featuring RBI singles from Gage Kohlmann, Keegan Bowe, and Loehr to increase their lead to 6-0 over the Lions.
Campbellsport got a single from Carter Gellings and Levi Bentz in the fifth inning to help the Cougars manufacture four runs, which was capped off by a Cullen Reis Sac Fly to secure the 10-0 conference win in five innings.
Levi Bentz led the way on the mound with a five-inning shutout, allowing five hits in the conference victory.
“Levi continues to dominate to start the Highway 67 series in our 10-0 victory,” said Head Coach Jim Krug.
Campbellsport baseball hosted Seymour on May 26 after print time. The Cougars received a nine-seed and will play at the eight-seed West Bend East in their first round game in the WIAA tournament on May 28.
