On Feb 20, Campbellsport girls basketball lost 63-48 to Cedar Grove-Belgium on the road to finish their regular season.
Campbellsport (2-22) held a 5-2 lead over Cedar Grove-Belgium (6-17) thanks to a three-pointer from Brianna Bobb.
The Cougars went on a 12-5 scoring run to tie the game at 17 when Chloey Berres knocked down a three-pointer, and then Campbellsport took a 21-19 lead when Taylor Schladweiler scored a basket for the Cougars.
The Rockets held a 26-23 halftime lead over the visiting Cougars.
Campbellsport was behind 30-23 before the Cougars went on a 9-2 run to tie up the game at 32 when Schladweiler knocked a big three-pointer.
The Cougars took a 35-34 lead over the Rockets after a Bobb basket and a McKenna Loehr free throw.
Bobb scored another basket for the Cougars after Cedar Grove-Belgium scored five consecutive points to put the score at 39-37 in favor of the Rockets.
Campbellsport wasn’t able to pull off the road victory with the Rockets closing out the 63-48 non-conference victory over the Cougars.
Brianna Bobb’s 17 points and Brittany Reilly’s double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds paced the Cougars on the night.
Vs Mayville
On Feb 19. Campbellsport girls basketball lost 67-51 to Mayville at home on Senior Night for Brittany Reilly and Ellie Heider.
Campbellsport (2-22, 0-14) trailed 16-7 to Mayville (6-18, 2-12) after Chloey Berres knocked a three-pointer for the Cougars.
Berres hit her second three-pointer of the half, plus Reilly and Taylor Schaldweiler combining for six points to get the Cougars within 24-16 on the scoreboard with Mayville in the lead.
The Cardinals closed out the first half on a 12-5 stretch to take a 36-21 lead into the halftime break.
The Cougars went on a 15-2 run in the middle of the second half, featuring three-pointers from Sydney Brandt and Chloey Berres, plus a three-point play off an offensive rebound from Reilly to close the gap in the game at 55-43 in favor of the Cardinals.
Campbellsport kept on battling in the game, but couldn’t get any closer in the game with a late highlight of Kiera Laverenz knocking down a three-pointer in the Cougars’ 67-51 loss to the Cardinals to finish up their Flyway Conference season.
Ady Christian led the Cardinals with 24 points, and Chloey Berres led the Cougars with 11 points in the matchup.
At Kewaskum
On Feb 17. Campbellsport girls’ basketball lost 60-39 to Kewaskum on the road in their non-conference matchup against their longtime rival.
Kewaskum (14-9) got out to 8-0 lead over Campbellsport (2-22), with all eight points scored by Cameron Boelte, before the Cougars got a three-pointer from sophomore Sydney Brandt to put the score at 8-3.
Boelte made her three-pointer of the first half to help the Indians out to 21-4 when Brandt hit her second three-pointer of the game, and junior McKenna Loehr scored two baskets, plus senior Brittany Reilly converting an offensive rebound for two points, made the halftime score 35-15 in favor of Kewaskum.
The Cougars cut into the Indians’ lead early in the second half before Boelte scored eight more points, including two more three-pointers, to extend the Kewaksum lead to 44-23 early in the second half.
Campbellsport got eight points from freshman Taylor Schladweiler, with junior Kiera Laverenz and Reilly combining for 12 points in the second half to make the final score 60-39 in favor of the Indians.
Cameron Boelte scored a game-high 23 points for Kewaskum in their regular-season finale.
Kiera Laverenz led the way with 11 points, and Brittany Reilly set the single-season rebounding record for the Campbellsport program with 292 rebounds and counting during her senior season.
Campbellsport girls basketball traveled as the 12th seed to play at the fifth seed Sheboygan Falls on Feb. 24 in the first round of the WIAA tournament.
