On August 29, Campbellsport volleyball went undefeated to win the Hartford Invitational by beating Flyway conference rival Mayville in the championship game.
Campbellsport (5-3) stormed through their five opponents (Chiton, Waukesha South, Hartford, Winneconne, and Mayville) by only losing one set to Winneconne in their five matches during the Invite.
Ellie Smith led the Cougars with 38 kills, 47 digs, and seven aces during the Invitational.
Emma Muraski had 27 kills, 29 digs, 7 aces, and 42 assists, and Chloey Berres paced the Cougars with 48 assists to help Campbellsport win the championship.
“I am so incredibly proud of these girls for going undefeated against Chilton, Waukesha South, Hartford, Winneconne, and beating Mayville in two sets in the championship was a huge accomplishment,” said Head Coach Alexander Brenner. “I’m even more proud of the way we got there, though their grit, fight, and love for the sport was on full display all day.”
“Every girl on this team played an important role in this achievement and that’s what makes this group so special,” said Brenner. “They truly believe in each other and continue to show up and compete for one another.”
“I couldn’t be prouder of our team and the way they represented our program,” said Brenner.
On August 25, Campbellsport kicked off their volleyball season by playing three matches at Homestead High School against Heritage Christian, Kettle Moraine, and Homestead.
Campbellsport volleyball played at Plymouth on September 1 after print time and at NFDL on September 3 at 7 p.m.
