On April 6, Campbellsport baseball defeated Ripon 9-5, playing on the road while dealing with the cooler Spring weather.
Campbellsport (2-0) scored two runs in the second inning, featuring a Sawyer Galligan RBI double to right field with two outs to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead over Ripon.
The Cougars added three runs in the fourth inning thanks to an RBI double from Cullen Reis and Levi Bentz driving in two runs with a single to center to increase Campbellsport’s lead to 5-2 over Ripon after four innings.
Jace Goebel drove in two runs with a RBi single in the fifth inning to help the Cougars to a 7-4 lead after five innings of baseball were completed.
Carter Gellings started the sixth inning with a double, with Wolfgang Stoffel hitting a RBI single to center for Campbellsport, and the Cougars added an insurance run in the seventh inning to secure the 9-5 non-conference victory.
Levi Bentz and Jace Goebel lead the Cougars’ offense with two runs batted in to pace Campbellsport in the win.
Vs CWC
On March 31, Campbellsport baseball beat Central Wisconsin Christian 13-3 in five innings in their season opener at home.
CWC (0-1) scored a run in the second inning, and two runs in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead before Campbellsort (2-0) responded with an RBI single from Wyatt Loehr and Keegan Bowe to make the score 3-2 after three innings.
Campbellsport got the bases loaded with two outs when Loehr hit a single to drive in two runs in the fourth inning to take a 4-3 lead over CWC.
The Cougars’ offense got going in the fifth inning with Carter Gellings RBI single to left to make the score 5-3 before Campbellsport got the bases loaded with one out.
Jackson Straub and Sawyer Galligan hit RBI singles to right field to keep the offense going to expand the Campbellsport lead to 7-3.
Campbellsport still had the bases loaded with the inning facing two outs when Bowe hit another single to drive in a run, but the big hit was Trent Schladweiler getting his second hit of the inning with a base-clearing triple to increase the Cougars lead to 11-3 over the Crusaders.
Gage Kohlmann and Braden Ebert finished off the hit parade in the fifth inning with RBI singles to win the game 13-3 in five innings for the Cougars.
Wyatt Loehr and Trent Schaldweiler led the way with two hits and three runs batted in apiece for Campbellsport in the season-opening win.
Campbellsport baseball traveled to Springs on April 7 after print time. The Cougars will host Springs on April 9 and Living Word Lutheran on April 10, with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m. for both games.
