Posted

The Cougars went to the Kewaskum Indians’ senior night this week at King Pin Bowl in West Bend. The Cougars actually faced the Spartans of West Bend East, who showed some spunk and a lot of improvement from earlier this season.
The Spartans shot a 147 in game two to snag a game from the Cougars, and they shot a 154 to get within five pins of tying the Cougars in game eight.
The Cougars started with a 138 game but improved each of the next four games, up to 164 in the fifth game and shot a 182 and 179 in games seven and nine. On the night, the Cougars averaged 155, which is 11 pins over their season-to-date average of 144.
“We scored well as a team this week,” said Coach Serwe.
Freshman Ava Polzin led the squad with nine strikes and three spares in 16 frames. Ava was followed closely by Lillee Kiehnau, who had five strikes and also filled 12 of 16 frames. Genna Grahl filled 9 of 14, Abby Jarmuz filled 9 of 16, Kendall Boegel filled 8 of 14, and Viola Schrauth filled 6 of 14.
With the win, the Cougars clinched a spot at the state tournament in March for the fifth straight year.
Stats for the match were as follows (strikes-spares-total frames): Lillee Kiehnau 5-7-16; Kendall Boegel 2-6-14; Ava Polzin 9-3-16; Viola Schrauth 4-2-14; Abby Jarmuz 4-5-16; Genna Grahl 0-9-14.
