Fast Times and Strong Finishes for K.H.S. at XC Ranch

The Kewaskum High School cross country teams turned in strong performances at the Lourdes Academy Invitational, held at the XC Ranch course in Oshkosh. Both the boys’ and girls’ squads showed depth and determination, with several athletes achieving personal records (PRs) and top finishes.
Boys’ Team Results
The boys were led by sophomore Wyatt Luedtke, who placed 33rd overall in a deep field of 231 runners with a time of 17:37. Just behind him was fellow sophomore Zachary Hein, running a 17:47, good for 34th place and a new PR. Juniors Layton Dexter and Carter Heimerman crossed nearly together, finishing in 57th 18:18 and 58th 18:19, respectively. Sophomore Leo Kohlwey also set a new PR with a 18:19, placing 59th. Senior Aaron Schmidt finished at 64th with a solid 18:23. Junior Elliott Schulz rounded out the varsity scoring pack with a time of 19:45. The tight pack running from Dexter through Schmidt showed the depth of Kewaskum’s lineup and contributed valuable points to the team.
Girls’ Team Results
On the girls’ side, in a race of 213 runners, sophomore Olivia Gerhartz led the charge with a 24th-place finish receiving another metal for the year, clocking a time of 20:29. Junior Taylor Kulick followed in 53rd place at 21:31. Freshman Maya Weissenrieder had a breakout race, setting a PR at 22:24 for 78th. She was joined closely by sophomore Cailyn Beres 22:34, 81st, senior Ruby Gerhartz 22:36, 83rd, and junior Cedar Racer, who also set a PR with 22:38, finishing 85th. Sophomore Olivia Dourn completed the scoring for the varsity squad in 23:37. The girls’ team demonstrated both veteran leadership and exciting promise from underclassmen, with multiple runners improving their personal bests.
The flat layout at XC Ranch provided the perfect stage for quick times and PRs. The Kewaskum teams rose to the challenge, showing improvement across the board. With several personal records set and tightly packed finishes, both the boys. and girls. squads continue to build momentum as they prepare for the upcoming home meet, after print time, on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at Hon-E-Kor Golf and Country Club.
