Kewaskum (8-3) was able to bounce back after a long game Friday night and beat Homestead (2-8) by a score of 4-3 on Saturday afternoon. The Indians used all the possible ways to score their runs while only recording three hits in the game.
The first run for the Indians came on an error on a fly ball hit by Kingston Grisolono. Homestead answered with an RBI single in the top of the second inning to tie the game.
With two outs in the fifth inning, Liam Stoffel drew a walk and stole second base. As he was attempting to steal third base, Andrew Reichert struck out swinging but the ball bounced away from the catcher and Stoffel never slowed down scoring the second run of the game while Reichert was able to advance to second base. A fly ball by Grisolono ended the frame.
The sixth inning was a rollercoaster for Kewaskum as it started with a leadoff Highlander single followed by three consecutive errors to allow Homestead to take the lead 3-2 with no outs and runners on the corners. Relief pitcher Tyler Stray was able to get a line-drive double play followed by a pop out to end the threat. The Indians tied the game on a Sam Ciriacks RBI bunt single and scored the go-ahead run on a Homestead error. Stray set the Highlanders’ three up and three down in the final frame to secure the victory.
Cooper Petermann started the game, allowing one earned run over five innings while scattering three hits, walking one and striking out five. Stray came in relief and threw two scoreless innings while striking out one.
Vs Campbellsport
The Kewaskum (7-3) versus Campbellsport (10-1) rivalry game lived up to the hype surrounding it as both teams had opportunities to score and win the game, but good defense and strong pitching resulted in the game being suspended after 10 innings due to darkness with the score remaining 5-5. Both teams are hopeful to finish the game at some point later on during the season.
The Cougars got on the board in the first on a Riley Kohlmann groundout scoring one run. The Indians were able to get it back when Kingston Grisolono grounded into a double play scoring one run.
Grisolono later singled in the third inning bringing in two runs. However, an error and wild pitch allowed Campbellsport to tie the game in the next half inning.
An Austin Reichel single gave Kewaskum a 5-3 lead, but Campbellsport came right back in the sixth inning with a double by Kyler Bowe and a sacrifice fly by Jace Goebel.
Vs Random Lake
Kewaskum (7-3, 3-1) got out to a five-run lead in the second inning and held on for an 8-6 victory against Random Lake (9-1) on Monday. The Indians were up five going into the seventh inning, but a few miscues and timely hits by the Rams resulted in the tying run being on second base when Carter Unger came in and struck out the final batter to get the save.
The Indians got on the board in the second inning with RBI singles by Tyler Densow and Andrew Reichert while Everett Donath got an RBI while getting hit by a pitch.
