With his strong performances at the Division 2 Kiel Regional and Marinette Sectional, junior Johnny Hooker is the sole Kewaskum track and field athlete heading to the State Championships to compete in the 400m race this weekend, June 6-7, in La Crosse.
On Tuesday, he qualified for the sectional with a time of 51.64, placing second, and at the sectional, he placed fourth with a time of 51.37 to qualify for state.
Hooker also qualified for sectionals in the 100m sprint.
The other Kewaskum athletes who competed in Marinette, for the boys, were Luciano Olla in the 1600m race, the boys’ 4x400 relay, Gabriel Halopka in shot put and discus, and for the girls, Ruby Gerhartz in the 400m race, Olivia Gerhartz in the 3200m race, Kellan Schutz in shot put and discus, Madison Klemme in high jump, and Raina Martin in the pole vault.
Hooker will first compete on Friday morning in heat two of the boys’ 400m event.
