(Article Updated on 8/24)

On August 21, Kewaskum Football lost 37-27 to Luxemburg-Casco in a hard-fought battle on the road between the two teams.
Luxemburg-Casco (1-0) held a 7-0 lead over Kewaskum (0-1) before Landon Scheel scored a two-yard rushing touchdown with 7:43 in the second quarter to make the score 7-6
Scheel scored his second touchdown of the game with a six-yard rushing score with 1:34 left in the second quarter, putting the score 14-12 in favor of Luxemburg-Casco.
The Spartans added a 36-yard field goal, giving Luxemburg a 17-12 halftime lead.

Kewaskum took the lead at 19-17 with five minutes left in the third quarter when Scheel scored for the third time with a one-yard plunge into the end zone.
Luxemburg-Casco scored the next 13 points to take a 30-19 lead when Kewaskum Senior Quarterback Eli Ogi connected with Anthony Coleman on a 66-yard pass, setting up the Indians at the 23-yard line.
Ogi floated a beautiful pass to Junior Wideout Jace Wichtoski, who high-pointed the ball in the air and brought it in for a 23-yard passing touchdown with 10:22 in the fourth quarter.
Ogi and Wichtoski connected again on the two-point conversion to close the gap on the scoreboard at 30-27.
The Spartans scored their final touchdown with 6:39 left in the game to increase their lead to 37-27.
The Indians were stopped on fourth down with 5:30 remaining in the game, but Kewaskum got the ball back from an interception by Henry Luedtke, which was caused by great pressure from Quin Dornacker on his pass rush.
Kewaskum’s final offensive possession of the game, which saw the Indians compile 372 yards of offense, was stopped by the Spartans' defense on fourth down with 2:29 left on the clock, resulting in the 37-27 win for Luxemburg-Casco.
“Our offensive line did a good job upfront for Landon and Eli with both of them running with purpose,” said Head Coach Jeff Rondorf.
“This game was a tough one because I felt like we were responding and reacting throughout the game rather than anticipating and executing,” said Rondorf. “We should have won this game, which is why I’m disappointed and I have to be better if we want to win these types of games in the future.”
“We did have positive stretches but too many mistakes, which can’t happen if we want to beat good teams, especially on the road,” said Rondorf.
Kewaskum football will host Campbellsport on Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m
