Kewaskum Boys Basketball Faces Grafton and Cedar Grove-Belgium at Home

The Kewaskum boys’ basketball team hosted the Grafton Blackhawks for a non-conference game on Tuesday, Jan. 13. The Grafton Blackhawks entered the game with a 2-8 overall record and a 1-5 conference record. Kewaskum had a 3-9 overall record and a 1-4 conference record.
Grafton scored the first point of the game off a free throw. Carter Unger scored the first two points for the Indians at 16:01. Chase Cook then scored a three-pointer at 15:14. Grafton went on to score a two-pointer at 13:52. They then scored again with a three-pointer at 13:12. Oliver Grover scored one out of two free throws to tie the overall score at 6-6. Both teams worked hard to keep the score within a few points of each other. Oliver Grover scored another two-pointer at 3:04 to bring the Indians’ lead to 18-16. Jackson Corbin scored two free throws to extend the lead to 20-16. Chase Cook scored a three pointer at 1:07. Cook then scored two free throws with 41 seconds in the first half. The Indians ended the first half with a 27-22 lead.
Oliver Grover scored the first points for the Indians in the second half at 17 minutes. Cook then scored another three at 16:21. Grafton scored a three at 14:16 to try to catch up to the Indians, bringing the overall score to 25-27. The Indians continued to grow their lead. Jackson Corbin scored a free throw at 11:24 for an overall score of 41-27. He scored another two-pointer at 4:30 to extend the lead even further to 55-42. Oliver Grover scored the last points of the game with .3 seconds left in the game to end the game with an overall score of 64-55.
Kewaskum was led offensively by Jackson Corbin with 19 points, going 13-of-17 from the free-throw line, while also pulling down eight rebounds and adding four assists. Chase Cook followed with 18 points, including three three-pointers, and shot 7-of-9 from the line. Marcus Fleischman added a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, including four on the offensive glass. On the boards, Corbin chipped in five offensive rebounds, while Carter Unger contributed five rebounds along with two blocks and three steals. Corbin and Eli Steinbauer each recorded four assists for the Indians, with Fleischman adding one assist.
The boys team then faced Cedar Grove-Belgium at home on Friday, Jan. 16 at 7:00 p.m. Cedar Grove-Belgium has an overall record of 7-2 and a conference record of 2-2.

Cedar Grove-Belgium scored the first points of the game with a two-pointer at 17:28. They scored another two-pointer a few seconds later. Eli Steinbauer scored the first points for the Indians with a three-pointer at 16:07. Jackson Corbin scored a two-pointer at 15:09. Carter Unger scored a two-pointer at 5:03. Corbin made both free throws at 1:50 to take the overall score to 19-35. Cook scored a three-pointer with .7 seconds left at the end of the first half to take the score to 26-38.
Cedar Grove-Belgium scored the first points in the second half with a three-pointer at 17:24. Jackson Corbin scored a three-pointer for the Indians at 15:36. Carter Unger scored another three-pointer at 11:40 to bring the overall score to 46-51. Chase Cook scored a free throw with 49.9 seconds left in the game to bring the overall score to 65-78. Eli Steinbauer scored a two-pointer to try to catch up to Cedar Grove-Belgium, but the Indians were not able to catch up. The game ended with a loss for the Indians, 67-82.
The Indians had their next game against Port Washington at home on January 20, after print time.
