Kewaskum Boys Basketball gets First Win

The Kewaskum boys’ basketball team had a successful week with their first two wins of the season.
At West Bend East
On Tuesday, December 16, the Kewaskum boys traveled to West Bend East for a conference game. The Indians entered the game with a 0-4 overall record, and the Suns entered with a 0-5 overall record. Both teams proved to be an even match, with the game ending in a win for Kewaskum, 66-52. This was the Indians’ first win of the season.
Senior Chase Cook scored 19 points. He scored four three-pointers and made three free throws. Senior Eli Steinbauer scored 16 points. He made two three-pointers and six free throws. Charlie Gambino was close behind with 15 points scored. He made one three-pointer and scored six free throws. Gambino had 11 rebounds, Quin Dornacker had six, and Cook had five. This resulted in the Indians’ overall record moving to 1-4.
At Lomira

On Thursday, December 19, the Indians traveled to Lomira for a non-conference game. Lomira entered the game undefeated with a 5-0 record. This proved to be a struggle for Kewaskum with a final score of 48-84.
Sophomore Carter Unger was the top scorer for Kewaskum, scoring 15 points. He made three three-pointers. Chase Cook scored 11 points, and he made three three-pointers. Junior Jackson Corbin scored seven points. He scored two three-pointers and one free throw. Corbin and Oliver Grover each had four rebounds.
At Campbellsport
Kewaskum then went on to get their second win of the season during their away game against Campbellsport on Saturday, December 20. Chase Cook was Kewaskum’s highest scorer with 18 points, and Jackson Corbin had 15. Cook made five three-pointers and three free throws. Corbin made seven free throws. Carter Unger had nine rebounds and three steals. This puts the Indians’ overall record at 2-5.
They played at home on Monday, December 22, against Mayville before the holiday break.
