Kewaskum girls’ basketball hosted the Mayville Cardinals on January 6.
Kewaskum pulled away early in their game against Mayville. The Indians led 25-14 at halftime and extended the margin after the break, outscoring Mayville 31-23 in the second half. Cameron Boelte led all scorers with 31 points, knocking down five three-pointers and going 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. Kaelyn Rettler and Olivia Gerhartz each added eight points for Kewaskum, which finished with 45 total rebounds. Kewaskum shot 13-of-41 from the field and 15-of-26 at the free-throw line, while forcing Mayville into turnovers and controlling the boards throughout the game.
Kewaskum then traveled for an away conference game against Kettle Moraine Lutheran on January 8. The girls struggled, facing a tough 19-56 loss. Kettle Moraine Lutheran had a 12-1 overall record, facing their first loss just the game before.
The Indians redeemed themselves on the road against Chilton on January 10. Kewaskum had a strong lead at half with an overall score of 17-9. They were able to hold Chilton to just 17 points in the second half. Cameron Boelte led all scorers with 21 points, hitting four three-pointers to pace Kewaskum’s offense. Alexis Belyeu added six points and contributed 12 rebounds, while Olivia Gerhartz chipped in five points. Kewaskum had 31 total rebounds, and limited Chilton’s scoring opportunities throughout the game to secure the road win.
The Indians’ next game will be against Port Washington for a non-conference away game on January 13, after print time.
