Kewaskum Girls Basketball has Tough Week on the Road

The Kewaskum girls’ basketball team had a week on the road with two away games at Kiel on Tuesday, Jan. 20, and Plymouth on Thursday, Jan. 22.
At Kiel
The Kewaskum girls entered the week with a 9-5 overall record and a 4-2 conference record. Kiel had an overall record of 11-3 and a conference record of 8-0, ranking first in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference.
The Kiel Raiders led the scoring, with the first half ending in a lead for Kiel 21-14.
Kewaskum’s Cameron Boelte led the scoring for the Indians with 12 points, Lily Prost scored eight, and Kaelyn Rettler scored seven. Rebound leaders of the game were Cameron Boelte with nine, Alexis Belyeu with eight, and Lily Prost with seven.

The Kewaskum girls scored 4 out of 30 attempted three-pointers and 16 out of 65 field goals. Kiel was able to pull ahead on free throws, making 23 out of 29 compared to Kewaskum’s 6 out of 12.
The non-conference game against Kiel ended with a 42-54 loss for Kewaskum.
At Plymouth
Plymouth had an overall record of 7-8 and a conference record of 3-3. Kewaskum and Plymouth previously faced off in the Kewaskum Field House on December 2, with the game ending in a win for Kewaskum, 49-41.
The score was close at the end of the first half, with Plymouth taking the lead 24-21.
Lily Prost led Kewaskum’s scoring with 10 points, Cameron Boelte scored eight, and Kaelyn Rettler scored eight. Alexis Belyeu led the girls with nine rebounds, along with Anna Parish, and Boelte had four. Kewaskum scored on 3 out of 25 attempted three-pointers, and Plymouth scored on 6 out of 22. Kewaskum scored on 100% of their free throws, making all six. Kewaskum scored on 14 out of 63 field goals, and Plymouth scored on 16 out of 48.
Thus, ultimately ending in a loss for Kewaskum with an overall score of 38-45.
The Kewaskum girls are currently tied for third with Plymouth in the Glacier Trails Conference. This week, on Tuesday, January 27, the girls played at home against Sheboygan South in the Field House, after print time. On Friday, Jan. 30, they travel to West Bend West for a 7 p.m. game.
