Kewaskum Girls Tennis Ends Their Season in Three Sectional Losses

The Kewaskum girls’ tennis team traveled to Sports Core in Kohler for the subsectional and sectional meets. During the subsectional play, all three of the varsity doubles teams were able to secure a win and advance to sectionals.
Coach Brad Preder said, “The No. 1 doubles team of Hannah Galasinksi and Anna Parish rolled to a victory to advance. At No. 2, Olivia Beck and Emma Klahn won both their matches, including a thrilling comeback victory over Kohler, in which they dropped the first set, won the second set in a tiebreaker, then won the match tiebreaker to advance. Our No. 3 doubles team of Li Behnke Zhou and Eleanor Schulz also won both their matches, including a straight sets win over Kohler to advance. On the singles’ side, Ruby McCain won her first match, but was defeated in her second match, denying her a trip to the sectional.”
The team had a quick turn around time with sectionals two days later. This resulted in three hard losses for the Indians.
Coach Preder said, “We were not able to keep up with the momentum.” Beck and Klahn lost a match tiebreaker versus Saint Mary’s Springs. Behnke Zhou and Schulz lost during a very long tiebreaker against Sheboygan Falls. Galasinski and Parish also lost against Howards Grove.
Reflecting on the season, Coach Preder said, “It was a tough way to end our season, but it was an excellent season overall. We had 35 players, so participation was excellent. We will miss our five seniors: Hannah Galasinski, Anna Parish, Emma Klahn, Olivia Beck, and Ella Drewitz. They represented Kewaskum very well and were extremely dedicated over the past four years.”
