The Kewaskum Girls Tennis team had a busy first week of the season with three matches with over 35 girls going out for the sport. Head Coach Bradley Preder said,
“This season we are hoping to move up in the Glacier Trails Conference,” said Head Coach Bradley Preder. “We were a bit disappointed in our conference results last year, but we were very competitive with almost everyone in the conference.”
“We are also hoping to build upon our showing at the WIAA Subsectionals, where we had all three doubles teams advance to sectionals last fall,” said Preder. “ We will always strive to have fun and show great sportsmanship, representing Kewaskum in the best way possible in everything we do. Our girls are working hard and improving steadily, and we look forward to a great season”
Kewaskum opened their season against Winnebago Lutheran on August 19 with a 5-2 win.
“We were able to win all three doubles matches and put up a good fight in the two matches that they lost, losing in tiebreakers,” said Preder “Several Kewaskum girls earned victories in their first-ever varsity matches, including senior Lily DeRuyter and juniors Claire Pamperin, Zoey Jakubowski, and Autumn Reindl.”
“It was a good start to what should be an exciting season with good competition in practice that should make the team stronger throughout the season,” said Preder.
