Kewaskum Golf Team Advances to Sectionals

Posted

Kewaskum boys’ golf advances to the sectional as a team, finishing fourth in a very tough regional hosted by Kettle Moraine Lutheran at the Washington County Golf Course on May 27. The regional consisted of three teams ranked in the top 10 in Division 2 state rankings and a tough Brookfield Academy squad. The top four teams advance to Sectionals.
Kewaskum ended up finishing in fourth place, securing their sectional spot after shooting a team score of 328, soundly ahead of Brookfield Academy’s 340. Kettle Moraine Lutheran won the regional with a score of 316, Grafton 317, and University School of Milwaukee 320. We knew we had our work cut out ahead of us, knowing this was possibly the strongest regional field across Division 2.
The Indians were led by senior Alex Theusch’s 78 and sophomore Jaxson Voit’s 79. Sophomore Colton Rabe, who has really come on strong for us in recent weeks, shot a solid 83. His front nine wasn’t the best, but he really came back strong on the back nine to post a quality score. Eli Steinbauer struggled on the day with his 88, especially early on in the round, but battled on the back nine to shoot 41. Brent Krejcarek also shot an 88.
Kewaskum advances to the Grafton Sectional, which will be hosted on Tuesday, June 3 at The Bog in Saukville. This will be a brand new course for all of our players, but we are looking forward to the opportunity. We know it is a tough sectional with four ranked teams, with Catholic Memorial included. The top two teams will advance to the state tournament. All of of the individuals on Kewaskum will also be competing individually for a berth to the state tournament.
