The Wisconsin Wastewater Operators’ Association has honored Kennedy Arbuckle, a Village of Kewaskum Wastewater Facility employee, with its Newcomer of the Year Award, recognizing her outstanding growth, innovation, and enthusiasm early in her career.
The statewide award is presented annually to operators with less than three years of experience who demonstrate exceptional commitment to learning and excellence on the job. Arbuckle, who started as an intern in April 2023 and now works full-time, was nominated for the prestigious award by her supervisor, Ben Propson, for her dedication and impact on both the utility and the community.
“Kennedy’s work ethic is as strong as any operator I’ve had the pleasure to work with,” said Propson. “This community and utility could not have done it without Kennedy. Everyone wishes they had a Kennedy on their team.”
Since joining the Kewaskum facility, Arbuckle has achieved several milestones: earning her commercial driver’s license within her first year, obtaining Department of Natural Resources operator certifications in all relevant subclasses, successfully passing her first lab audit last June, and playing key roles in lab work, maintenance, sewer operations, and more. She also supported a successful ultra-filtration pilot study with detailed phosphorus testing, becoming a respected member of both the wastewater and water utility teams.
The awards celebrate Arbuckle’s rapid growth and her strong contributions to the facility and her community.
“Congratulations, Kennedy. Your hard work, dedication, and drive inspire us all,” Propson said.
