The Kewaskum High School football team traveled to Port Washington on Friday, Sept. 27.
The Indians were fighting for their first win of the season but were defeated with a score of 58-7.
Port Washington dominated the night and left Kewaskum scoreless until the fourth quarter when the Indians were able to get a touchdown.
“Port Washington had a very good defense and we made mistakes offensively which put our defense in tough spots,” said coach Nick Kreif.
The opposing team scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, three in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth quarter.
Kewaskum’s touchdown in the final quarter was a pass from quarterback Andrew Reichert to Corbin Dexter for 66 yards. The extra point was made by kicker Blake Staral.
“We are proud of our team as they continued to give effort throughout a tough game,” mentioned the coach.
Everett Donath led the team in rushing yards with 37 on the night. Corbin Dexter had 65 receiving yards for the Indians on Friday.
Warren Korth and Samuel Ciriacks had five total tackles, and Gabriel Halopka, Parker Gruen and Landon Daniel contributed four.
This Friday, Oct. 4, the Indians will host Kettle Moraine Lutheran (KML) for a homecoming matchup at 7 p.m. The game will take place at the Doc Mitchell Athletic Complex. The homecoming parade will occur in town before the game at 4:30 p.m.
“We have a very good game plan offensively and defensively for KML. Our seniors are very engaged and we are expecting to be very competitive,” concluded Kreif.
