The Kewaskum High School volleyball team played a total of six games last week. The girls won all but one of their matchups.
On Tuesday, Oct. 8, Kewaskum hosted non-conference, sectional rival Sheboygan Falls.
“It was Dig Pink Night at the Kewaskum Fieldhouse to help raise money for the Sideout Foundation. The Sideout Foundation is an organization that specifically harnesses the love and passion of volleyball to help raise money for those affected by breast cancer. The program raised well over $1,000 in the evening,” explained Head Coach Burg.
The coach explained that Mara Butschlick, a captain for Kewaskum, was instrumental in organizing and running the event.
“For volleyball that evening, Kewaskum and Sheboygan Falls played a tough back-and-forth match all night with Kewaskum gutting out a hard-earned five set win,” said Burg.
On Thursday, Oct. 10, the Indians hosted Berlin for another home game.
“It was one of the most important nights of the year - senior night. The seniors honored were Brooklyn Grisolono, Madelyn Marquardt, Mara Butschlick, Ava Schrauth, Eden Korth, Lexi Klahn, and Sophie Geib,” mentioned Burg.
Kewaskum dominated against their opponents and won all three sets on the night.
Finally, the Indians played in a tournament on Saturday, Oct. 12.
The teams in attendance were Kewaskum, Union Grove, Germantown and Fond du Lac.
“The team went 3-1 on the weekend in the Sprawl Qualifier,” said Burg.
The girls beat Union Grove twice and also secured a win against Germantown. They were defeated by Fond du Lac, their only loss of the week.
“This was a very successful week for so many reasons as Kewaskum heads into their final conference game at Winneconne on Thursday, Oct. 17. They have already clinched a share of the conference title, and with a win, they will win it outright,” concluded Burg.
