Ronald Charles Geidel, 80, left these earthly bounds to be in God's heavenly light on February 25, 2026.
He was born at home on the family farm in rural Campbellsport on February 9, 1946, to Franklin and Della (Miller) Geidel, and was baptized to the Lord on March 31, 1946. He was raised on the farm and went to a one-room school in Elmore until his father's death in 1954. His family then moved into Campbellsport, and he attended Campbellsport public schools, graduating from Campbellsport High School in 1965.
In November of 1965, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam from October 1966 to November 1967.
On November 18, 1967, Ron married Thelma Gantner at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac. For the first year of their marriage, they lived in North Carolina while Ron was stationed at Camp LeJeune Marine Corp base. Their daughter was born at the base hospital. After Ron's discharge from the Marine Corp, they moved back to Wisconsin in 1968 and over the years Ron was employed by Kindt Lumber Company, Lomira; True Value Hardware, Fond du Lac; and Interior Systems, Fond du Lac, where he retired. They moved to the Oakfield area in 1970. Ron was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Oakfield. He was also a member of the American Legion, Lomira, and a life member of the National Rifle Association because preserving our 2nd Amendment rights was important to him. Ron was blessed with a woodworking skill that over the years has benefited his family and others who knew him. He thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always praying for God's blessings on them.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Thelma; daughter, Sara (Todd) Schmidt of Fond du Lac; grandchildren, Heather (Paul) Niebuhr of Elm Grove and Tyler (Taylor) Schmidt of St. Paul, MN, Bret (Sarah) Geidel of Oakfield; great-grandchildren, Spencer and Ashton Geidel, Harper and James Schmidt. Ron is further survived by one sister, Dolores Jandre, and sister-in-law, Judy Geidel, a brother-in-law Ted Gantner and sister-in-law Tracy (Don) Frey, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald F. Geidel in 2019; by his parents, Franklin and Della Geidel and in-laws, Herb and Lorraine Gantner. Ron was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ken Jandre; a sister, Janet Mielke and her husband, Don Mielke, and one brother, Bill Geidel.
A Christian service of praise to our Lord will be held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 245 S. Second Street, Oakfield, WI, with Rev. Matthew Schwartz officiating on March 14, at 11:30 a.m. Visitation for Ronald C.
