Three Arrested After High-Speed Chase and Standoff in Waupun

Posted

Fond du Lac County sheriff’s deputies arrested three people Sunday night after a high-speed chase and standoff at a home in the town of Waupun.
A deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a registration violation on County Highway TC near County Highway M around 7:58 p.m. The driver, who initially gave a false name, was recognized by the deputy as a parole absconder wanted for robbery and other warrants, including resisting or obstructing an officer.
The suspect fled at speeds over 100 mph to a home on Hemp Road, where he ran inside. Law enforcement from multiple agencies surrounded the residence and attempted negotiations for several hours. After repeated commands were ignored, SWAT teams from the sheriff’s office and Fond du Lac Police Department forced entry around midnight.
Three adults, including the wanted suspect, surrendered and were taken into custody. Authorities believed a fourth person with outstanding warrants might be inside, but no other suspects were found after searching the home and outbuildings.
Agencies assisting included Waupun Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, LifeStar EMS, North Fond du Lac Ambulance, Waupun Fire, Alliant Energy, and Town of Waupun officials.
