On October 22, Campbellsport volleyball beat NFDL 3-0 in the first round of the Division Two WIAA volleyball tournament.
“This was our last home game of the season, plus the last home game for our seniors,” said Head Coach Jessica Jensen. “Our team entered the match with great focus and continued with a competitive mindset.”
The fifth seed Campbellsport (14-14) team won the first set with a score of 25-8 over the visiting 12 seed, NFDL (1-16).
“I am so proud of these girls with their dedication to our volleyball program and their school,” said Jensen.
The Cougars proceeded to the win the second set 25-11 and closed out the third set to win the match by a score of 25-5 to advance to the second round of the WIAA tournament to play the fourth seed, Sheboygan Falls.
Carleigh Ward had 24 assists and five aces to pace the Cougars, with Natalie Sippel getting 12 digs in the game.
Campbellsport had Emma Muraski leading the way with 12 kills followed by Shea Willacker with nine kills then eight kills apiece by Ellie Smith and Kaylie Jandre.
“These seniors have added so much to our program, and I am so grateful for their leadership on our team this season,” said Jensen. “Our senior hitters Megan McCarty and Gabi Danza helped lead our team with their positive attitude and high energy.”
At Sheboygan Falls
On October 24, Campbellsport volleyball lost 3-0 to Sheboygan Falls in the second round of the WIAA tournament on the road.
Campbellsport (14-14) lost the first set of the match by a score of the 25-18 to Sheboygan Falls (21-12).
The fifth seeded Cougars played a competitive second set but fell short with a score of 25-23 to fall behind two sets in the match against the fourth seeded Falcons.
Sheboygan Falls won the third set 25-17 to win the second round playoff match to advance to play first seed Kewaskum in the regional final on October 26.
The Cougars end their season with a record of 14-14 under the first year head coach Jessica Jensen.
