The Kewaskum Friends of Parks and TRiE fitness teamed up this past weekend to host the first Kewaskum TRiE-athlon. More than 50 adult participants took on the challenge, which combined a 5K run/walk, a 13-mile bike ride, and a 2-mile kayak paddle.
Participants had the flexibility to tackle the course solo or partner with friends and family for a relay-style race. Without chip timing or podium finishes, the emphasis was on fun, community spirit, and personal accomplishment.
In addition to the adult race, 15 youth athletes participated in a mini version of the event, featuring a 1-mile run/walk and a 3.5-mile bike ride.
Kewaskum Friends of Parks said their goals for the event were, “to bring the community together, utilize our beautiful park space in a new way, encourage outdoor activity, and highlight Kewaskum's new kayak launch in River Hill Park.”
They plan to host this event in Kewaskum again next year, “and feel it was a big success.”
