The Kewaskum High School girls’ volleyball team hosted Grafton on Thursday, Oct. 31 for a playoff game. After securing the title of Regional Champions, the girls were now playing to make it as far as possible in the playoffs with the championship final four wins away.
The Indians lost the first match (25-18) but were able to work together to get their momentum back for the three rounds to follow (25-14, 25-15 and 2510). The girls won the home game (3-1) qualifying them to move on to the final round of sectionals.
Two days later, on Saturday, Nov. 2, the Indians played in another playoff matchup. This game was against Luxemburg-Casco for the sectional finals. The winner would move on to semifinals with a chance to make it to the final championship game.
Kewaskum lost the first match (18-25) as they fell behind and were unable to catch up on offense. The night still looked promising as the girls made a comeback in the second game and won by five points (25-20).
The Indians were unable to match the outcome of the second round and lost the next two matchups (25-20 and 26-24) after fighting two very close and hard battles.
Unfortunately, this playoff loss put an end to the girls’ season. The Indians finished the year with the title of Conference Champions (6-0) and were 28-11 overall.
