Campbellsport Volleyball Plays for the Conference Championship

On October 17, Campbellsport volleyball lost 3-0 to No. 6 ranked (Division 3) Laconia in the Flyway Conference Championship game.
Campbellsport (13-13, 6-1, second place in Flyway) was celebrating senior night with the opportunity to win their first conference championship since 1994.
The Cougars and Spartans had a full gym of supporters ready for the anticipated, conference matchup featuring the two best teams in the conference.

from page 11 lie Smith spike, the Cougars extended their lead to 12-10, before the Spartans went on a 5-2 run to lead 15-14.
Emma Muraski had a big block to tie the set at 15 for the Cougars but Laconia scored the next three out of four points before Smith had a nice tip shot to make the score 18-17 in favor of the Spartans.
Laconia took control of the first set by outscoring Campbellsport 7-1 to win the first match by the score of 25-18.
The Spartans came out firing on all cylinders with a 7-2 lead before a Cougar timeout, then Campbellsport got a Shealyn Willacker spike to get some momentum after the timeout.
The Cougars got a Smith spike and service ace to bring the score to 17-11 in favor of Laconia but the Spartans closed out the set with an 8-2 point run to win the second set with the score of 25-13.
Laconia started the third set fast with an 8-3 lead over the Cougars but then Campbellsport got some good plays with a Megan McCarty block and an ace from Muraski to bring the score to 12-8 with the Spartans in the lead.
McCarty got another block for the Cougars to stop a Spartan run and put the score at 15-10 after her play at the net.
Laconia showed why they are a ranked team with a finishing kick in the third set to clinch the Flyway Conference for the second consecutive year by winning the third set and match with a 2516 victory.
Campbellsport volleyball received a No. 5 seed in Division 2 of the WIAA tournament and they will host No. 12 NFDL on October 22 at 7 p.m. during the upcoming week. The winner of the match will play at No. 4 seed Sheboygan Falls on October 24.
