The Campbellsport High School Visual Art Classic (VAC) team came home from regionals, on March 7, in high spirits after winning three trophies and 18 first place ribbons. The Campbellsport VAC team placed third in Critical Thinking, first in Quizbowl, for the second year in a row, and they placed third overall at the art competition.
Along with the three trophies that the Campbellsport team received, the team also received 18 individual first place blue ribbons and five second place red ribbons. The first place ribbons for long-term projects, which are projects that are completed before the competition, were given to Anna Batlzer and Sam Ellenbecker for drawing, Emily Ohme for drawing, Sadie Homuth for sculpture, Gracie Scannell for mixed media, Jaedyn Burns for art history, Alysa Downham for printmaking, Olyvia Hanyes and Aubrey Cousert for design, and Michaela Darmony and Hunter Buchberger for ceramics.
The first-place ribbons for onsite projects, which are completed during the competition, were awarded to Anna Batzler and Sam Ellenbecker for drawing, Sadie Homuth for sculpture, Jaedyn Burns for art history, Cali Kneevers for painting, Alysa Downham for printmaking, and Aubrey Cousert for design. Second-place ribbons were awarded to Olyvia Hanyes for her onsite project in design, Maddy Kries for both her onsite and long-term mixed media projects, and Michaela Darmony and Hunter Buchberger for their short-term ceramics project.
Best of luck to the Campbellsport VAC team as they head to the state competition on April 4, following their impressive first-place wins. A special shoutout goes to Anna Batzler for earning first place in both her onsite and long-term art pieces all four years of high school!
