Kewaskum Girls Soccer
The Kewaskum girls’ varsity soccer team hosted Plymouth on Tuesday, April 15. The Indians knew it was going to be a tough matchup, but still came out hard.
Victoria Kenworthy was under constant pressure in the goal, and she was able to come up with an impressive 11 saves.
The Panthers still found a way to find the back of the net, however, and walked away with an 8-0 victory against the Indians.
Coach Luke Piwani stated, “The girls battled the entire time against a really good team. They are the two-time defending state champions for a reason. We really worked on our communication and it was great to see the girls working together on the field.”
The week continued with another home game against Oostburg on Thursday, April 17. The teams were evenly matched and it was a back-and-forth game right up until the final whistle.
Coach Piwani was pleased with the way his defense was able to control possession and play good team soccer.
He stated, “Marisa Strankowski played her best game of the season thus far. She was aggressively stepping to the ball and did a nice job distributing out of the back.”
Another key player on defense was Alayna Lambrecht. Coach Piwani added, “Alayna has been playing really well all season. She has switched between midfield and defense effortlessly. It’s great to have a flexible player like that on the team.”
Solid defense led to the Indians holding Oostburg to a shutout, but unfortunately they were unable to score on the offensive end which led to the game ending in a 0-0 tie.
The Indians are now busy preparing for a three-game week where they will travel to KML, host Shorewood, and travel to Port Washington.
