KHS Girls Soccer has Successful Week on the Pitch

Posted

The Kewaskum varsity indians had an undefeated week on the soccer field starting off Monday, April 28, at home against Brown Deer.
The Indians scored just a minute and 49 seconds into the game on a penalty kick from senior Caitlyn Finger.
Caitlyn went on to have a hat trick throughout the game along with two assists. Three freshmen (Dana Jacobson, Ruth Sadownikow, and Kenley Yapp) were also able to find the back of the net and scored their first varsity goals.
Senior Marisa Strankowski scored her first varsity goal, and senior Emily Melzer recorded a goal and an assist.
The final score was 8-0 with the Indians taking the win.

Coach Luke Piwani stated, “It was great to see us come out on the attack and be aggressive offensively. The team’s passing improved throughout the game which was nice to see. This is a good, positive step in the right direction.”
The week continued on Friday, May 2, when the Indians hosted Winnebago Lutheran Academy.
It wasn’t the beginning the Indians hoped for, and they found themselves down a goal just a few minutes in.
After the game, Coach Piwani commented, “Unfortunately, we fell behind early, but the girls really came together and were determined to play good team soccer. Our passing was a priority this week and you could see that come through on the field.”
This strategy proved to be a successful one for the Indians, and they were able to battle back and score two goals to take the victory.
Annika Kreuser scored in the 40th minute off an assist from Caitlyn Finger, and Finger scored in the 61st minute off an assist from Cami Boelte.
The Indians recorded 16 shots on goal and held WLA to just four.
The team is hoping to continue their success as they head into a three game week.
