Unger Goes the Distance in First Career Start
In a game which had strong pitching for both teams, Kewaskum (3-1, 2-0) came out with the 2-1 victory over the host, West Bend East (0-3).
Freshman Carter Unger got the nod for the Indians and did not disappoint in his first career start. Unger went the full seven innings while allowing one run on four hits while striking out six and walking two. The freshman credited his defense who played error free baseball and made some big plays in crucial moments of the game.
The Indians got on the board right away in the top of the first inning. Liam Stoffel got a lead-off single and stole second base. He made it to third on an Andrew Reichert ground-out and scored on a Kingston Grisolono single.
The Suns would tie the game in the fourth inning, hitting back-to-back doubles but with the go ahead run on second, Unger was able to strike out the next batter to keep the score tied.
It remained that way until the seventh inning when Sam Ciriacks led off with a single and advanced to second on a Tyler Stray bunt. Liam Stoffel then beat out an infield single, and a wild throw allowed Ciriacks to score.
However, the Suns did not go away as they got a leadoff single to start the seventh inning. After a pop out to the catcher, the Suns’ designated hitter hit a hard ground ball to second baseman Kyle Haim who started the 4-6-3, game-ending double play.
Ciriacks, Reichert, and Stoffel led the offensive attack having two hits a piece.

Liam Stoffel and Andrew Reichert led off the inning with a pair of singles followed by a pair of RBI singles by Grisolono and Austin Reiche. The Indians took a 2-0 lead. A balk allowed the third run to score before a line drive, double play and ground out ended the inning.
After a scoreless top of the second, Kewaskum’s bats picked up right where they left off. Utilizing some free passes from the Panthers, Reichert made them pay with the bases loaded when he drove the ball to deep left center for a bases-clearing double.
After three consecutive strikeouts by Grisolono in the top of the third, a pair of walks and a Stoffel single loaded the bases for Reichert again. This time, he drew a walk allowing Grisolono to rip a triple to center field and clear the bases.
