The Kewaskum Indians (6-3, 3-1) bested Port Washington (4-5) 10-8 on Saturday afternoon after taking the lead late in the game.
The Indians got on the board first after an Andrew Reichert double. Kingston Grisolono blasted a two-run home run over the right field fence for a 2-0 lead.
A single in the following inning by Liam Stoffel extended the lead to 3-0. However, the Pirates fought back, scoring two runs in both the third and fourth innings, followed by four in the fifth for an 8-3 advantage.
The Indians’ bats came alive in the sixth inning when they struck for seven, taking advantage of a pair of walks, a hit batter, and five hits in the inning.
Brayden Loehr had a two-run RBI single when the game was tied at eight to deliver what proved to be the winning runs.
Vs Lomira
Kewaskum (5-3, 3-1) couldn’t keep up with the offensive attack of the Lomira Lions (7-2) in a 10-4 defeat on the morning of Saturday, April 19.
Lomira was able to score every inning starting in the third. However, the Indians did not go away and cut the lead to 7-4 in the fifth inning when Liam Stoffel singled, scoring one run and Kingston Grisolono later hit a home run to right field scoring three runs.
The Indians could not keep the Lions at bay as they bounced back and scored two in the sixth and one in the seventh to push the game further out of reach. The only other hit for Kewaskum was a Brayden Loehr single down the left field line in the second inning and despite a Lions error.
At KML
On a brisk, cool afternoon with strong pitching from both teams, the Kewaskum Indians (5-1,3-0) went on the road and defeated the Kettle Moraine Lutheran Chargers (4-3, 0-1) 3-0 in a battle of strong pitching on Tuesday, April 15.
The Indians got on the board right away in the first inning. After a pair of outs, Kingston Grisolono singled and Austin Reichel walked. Grisolono and courtesy runner Devon Berndt stole third and second base respectively and scored on an error when Everett Donath hit the ball towards first base and the exchange with the pitcher went wide of the mark.
The final run the Indians got came the unconventional way in the third inning. Andrew Reichert reached on a dropped third strike and eventually scored while the Indians struck out four times in the inning.
