On August 5, Campbellsport baseball beat Seymour 12-11 in the Class AA American Legion State Tournament in New London to win the Class AA state championship. Campbellsport (16-6) took control in the first inning over Seymour (18-4) by scoring nine runs in the opening inning. “We came out hot during the championship game against Seymour, scoring 9 runs in the first inning, then adding to it in the third,” said Campbellsport coaches Dave Bothe, Gary Goebel, and Jack McCarty. “Seymour did not give up, chipping away at the lead.”
